Day 9 (1.12.24): Hot Day Happenings!

Writer's picture: Hannah McIntyreHannah McIntyre

Hi! Hannah Hammond here! Please, allow me to share with you all what has been going down here and how God has been working. It was a hot and humid end to an long first week. Today was 94 degrees, feeling like a wapping 100+ degrees outside. My favorite memory from today was PE with my students where we went outside in that heat and one kid asking me for a horse ride from me, meaning a piggy back ride, and then preceding to give all 28 of my students a piggy back ride in the blazing heat. My favorite part of this memory was making a deal with each student that if I gave them a ride on my back only if they gave me a really loud "Yee Haw" in full confidence. It was the best thing ever and even though it was extremely hot outside, it was so incredibly worth it making both the kids and other teachers absolutely belly laugh; so unexplainably worth it.

Filled with memories of our sunshines and clouds, I think everyone could agree to say that this is whole experience is unlike any other that we have experienced for many reasons. The culture, the kids, the overall environment is so different in such a beautiful way. Getting to give these children our love has been the most joy for me, along with seeing their heart fulfilling smiles in return. Oh their smiles, laughter, and overall joy all over their faces is what absolutely makes the difficult moments SO worth it. Many joys and many challenges filled each day where in each day we witness and share how God is working in each of the schools that we are teaching in and how the Lord is working in all of our students lives as well inside and outside of their school experience. With that we have seen God work in our lives each day so much as well. From mute children going from not speaking a word to speaking full short sentences to struggling learning having breakthroughs left and right, God is moving! WOW GOD! You are SO GOOD!

Before we jump back into being willing pieces of the puzzle that God is so amazingly creating here in Roaring Creek, Belize, we look forward to this new week ahead of us beyond this holiday weekend. The Lord is doing amazing things, to say the least, and wow, we get the chance to be used in those amazing plans God has! Thank You Lord!
