Hello everyone, it's Hannah here! (Hannah Franklin to clarify; there are three of us...) Our day started early with a mile walk to school for our first day in the classroom! Part of our group went to "Our Lady Fatima's Roman Catholic school," and others went to "Raymond Shepherd Nazarene School." Our experiences from the day varied, although most of us clicked with our teachers and loved the class environment. Despite challenges, we can all agree it was a unique teaching experience between the cultural differences and experiencing third world challenges first hand! Each classroom was different, but in my own observations of the classroom, the teachers had little access to materials or resources such as textbooks, and the students only brought what they had from home. As we start to plan our own lessons, we must figure out how to teach without technology, copy machines, air conditioning, or basic supplies. This requires a lot of creative thinking! After we trudged with aching feet the mile back to the compound and were given popsicles by our beloved professor, we all sat down and got to work. The wonderful thing about teaching and living together is that we have 18 minds that can collaborate together to create great lessons! Our filled to the brim bags are coming in handy with plenty of construction paper, markers, scissors, and crayons to create our own materials. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we begin ministry through teaching!
Signing off,
Hannah F.
Praying that God will lead you all, as you face the challenges of teaching in unfamiliar schools.
I know God is using your loving hearts in a powerful way that you may never even get to see. I pray for His blessing and guidance for each of you today.
Gosh this makes sense. Will continue to pray for energy and wisdom; we know God is at work in all of you!
Thanks for the update! Praying for all your challenges and needs as you all bless these students and teachers! 🙏🏻❤️
