Day 17 (1.20.24): The Mayan "Roons!"

Writer's picture: Hannah McIntyreHannah McIntyre

Our last Saturday in Belize! This morning we had breakfast at 7am and then were off on our adventures by 8am. This started out with an hour bus ride to see the Xunantunich (shoe-nan-tune-itch) Mayan Ruins. We climbed these massive ruins and learned more about Belize history along the way. There were many iguana and bat spottings. After a few hours of a guide led tour, we were back on the bus to our next location. We ate some hotdogs on the road and got to Ayala's natural swimming pool by 2pm. Unfortunately at this point it began to rain rather hard. This made for some pretty chilly swimming and good laughs. Regardless of the rain, the natural pool was so pretty and we all enjoyed the time to relax. Once we were back to the compound, we enjoyed our newly installed volleyball net before dinner. After that, we enjoyed some spaghetti (YUM - a fan favorite here) and worship.

Thanks for checking in,

Mikayla
