Today we are half way through the week and checked another full day of school off the calendar. Although its relieving to be done with another day, its sad that our days are trickling down.
Our day started as usual with breakfast and our walk to school where we were met by some of our students on the way. This is a chance to get to know them outside the classroom and chat before class. This week has been a challenge as many of us have had absent teachers for days in a row. Many of us come with a few things planned and improvise where we can. Although the absences were scary they have helped many of us develop better classroom management, interactive lessons and allowed us to spend time with our students. It is also important to mention this is the week of observations. Throughout the week Christy (our lovely professor) will be in the classroom as we teach a lesson of our choice.I was observed yesterday on a math lesson, teaching greater than and less than to my first grade class. Although observations can be intimidating we are thankful for such an encouraging professor that gives plenty of support and recommendations. After a full day of school we walk home and our students often join us. Many of us will then take a short nap and begin prepping upcoming observations, or for the next day of school as we never really know what to expect. Although we have had challenges, we are so thankful for our students and the classrooms God has placed us in.
Aside from school, a praise report is that our bus has been fixed and we are able to return to our regularly scheduled programming. Also as probably mentioned before Pat is here (Christys husband) and has been able to fix almost anything we need. Praise God for his eager spirit, always willing to lend a hand. Thank you for your prayers and support thus far!!
Stay warm,
Zayda Strother
Thank you for another great update! We love getting to share in your experiences this way, and it helps to know specifically how to pray for all of you and your students, teachers, and hosts. 🙏🏻❤️
