Today was FULL of adventures! We had an early start to the morning in order to make it just outside of Belize City where we were fitted for our flippers before boarding a boat and going snorkeling. We braved the reefs and saw some amazing sea life (my favorite being the parrot fish). We also got the opportunity to swim with nurse sharks and stingrays! Many of us were brave enough to hold one or the other, some held both! The scariest part to me were the large birds flying very close over head (not the large sea creatures swimming through our legs and under our feet). We boarded the boat again where we rode to Caye Caulker Island! There we split into groups, making it easier for everyone to eat where they wanted. The island had lots to offer - from great photo ops and coffee shops to souvenirs and swimming! We never wanted to leave the island, but many of us were tired after all the excitement. Dinner was eaten once we arrived back on the compound, followed by showers and bedtime! Its going to be hard returning to school tomorrow after today!
We are grateful for Ese and Lisette, our wonderful trip leaders, for helping make this trip happen after all the bus trouble we have faced! Pray that those issues are resolved quickly and that our other weekend adventures come without trouble! Also pray that we get a good nights sleep and wake up with energy because Tuesday morning will be here before we know it! (also for my sunburn... its worse than I am willing to admit).
